The US Embassy Meet US Bus is a mobile American Space that has been operating in Nepal for 12 years, delivering innovative and interactive programming to children, youth, women, and various communities

The project is designed to increase access to educational and cultural resources outside the Kathmandu Valley, particularly for those with limited access to permanent American Corners

The primary goal of the program is to empower Nepali youth (specifically those aged 18 to 30) with an entrepreneurial mindset and practical skills. By fostering leadership and entrepreneurship, the project aims to help participants address pressing challenges such as climate change and social justice, ultimately contributing to a more resilient and prosperous Nepal.

What it does/ How it functions

The Meet US Bus functions as a traveling educational hub that visits schools, colleges, and community spaces to provide immersive learning experiences. Its operations are centered around several core activities:

  • Interactive Workshops

The program organizes hands-on sessions that focus on STEM education, leadership, and skill development to foster curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Promoting Literacy

The bus travels with a collection of books and hosts collaborative reading circles and interactive storytelling sessions to build a strong reading culture within communities.
  • Entrepreneurship and Human-Centered Design (HCD)

The project introduces participants to Human-Centered Design (an approach pioneered by the American organization IDEO) to help them develop creative, locally-driven solutions to community challenges
  • Professional Networking

It serves as a platform to connect youth with accomplished professionals, entrepreneurs, and role models, both nationally and internationally, to build a supportive ecosystem for youth development.
  • Creative Engagement

Participants engage in activities designed to encourage a culture of experimentation, allowing them to practice problem-solving in a practical environment.
