Naveenta is an innovative STEM education programme tackling Nepal’s gender gap in technology by equipping marginalised schoolgirls with the skills and opportunities to thrive in a digital future. The project focuses on enhancing STEM skills and digital confidence among girls from community schools. It promotes STEM education through ICT workshops, the establishment of school-based STEM clubs, and awareness of digital safety and gender equity in ICT.

  • Safety in STEM

Promoting the safe, responsible, and ethical use of AI and digital platforms through workshops in all schools supported by newly created dedicated online resources.

Testimonials

Impact through their eyes

  • After joining the CoDES training, I experienced a big shift in my confidence and skills as a new Scratch trainer. I am currently studying in the second year of my Bachelor’s degree, and before this training, I had very limited computer experience and did not know Scratch at all. The five-day Scratch training helped me understand Scratch clearly and learn how to teach it step by step in a way students can easily follow. After the training, I started teaching Scratch for the first time using the activities and methods I learned. Seeing students get excited to create their own projects, share their ideas, and participate more actively has made me feel really happy and motivated, and I am excited to keep improving and contribute more in the coming days.

  • This is the first time I am learning to use a computer. Before this, I did not even know how to open Google Chrome or create a Google ID. Everything was completely new to me. Now, with the help of the facilitators, I have learned how to make sprites talk, walk, dance, and change their size on the screen in SCRATCH. One day, I want to use these skills to create a story about my school, with my teachers and friends in it

  • I had learned a little about computers and how to use them up to Grade 9. After Grade 9, the school stopped teaching computer classes. After the Naveenta Project started a program at our school, I learned about Web application Development for the first time. Now, I have learned about new technologies such as creating a Google account, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and I have started using them. I feel happy that I got the opportunity to participate in this program and learn these things
